A JOURNEY IN THE ARTS
I like to think of myself as a soldier of the arts. I have marched down many paths of creative pursuit - novelist, screenwriter, librettist, and singer-songwriter. My many written works are under my name in Kindle (Lauron Lewis). My music work is under the pseudonym of Lex Ventura and is widely available on Soundcloud, Beatport and other platforms. This is my Soundcloud link:Â https://soundcloud.com/lex_ventura
I began dabbling in watercolor soon after my retirement from a long career in corporate communications. My wife Laurie and I moved to New Hampshire. I used to joke with my kids when they were little not to overplay the role of gift giving related to Christmas as it was very unlikely that any specific gift would change a life.
Well, wouldn't you know that the gift Laurie gave me our first Christmas here changed mine. It was a fabulous watercolor set. I was completely surprised but very delighted. Early in our marriage I had tried my hand at illustrating a children's book that I wrote, but hadn't drawn anything in more than 25 years. Our house has a nice studio in the basement where I set my materials in order.I soon began doodling little scenes. After a while I decided to go bigger with some poster size efforts. I am self taught. I characterize my style as gonzo expressionism - I strive to evoke a positive emotional response in my work. Following some positive feedback, I showed my work. I sold one at an art fair in our town of Peterborough. More sales followed. Fortunately, since I am retired, I don't need to rely on income from my work. I balance my painting with music creation. Both are great as long as they are fun. I stopped writing because it's not fun, takes too much time, and can't be enjoyed at a glance or a hearing.
So I decided to share the best watercolors of what I've done through this site. Some have been sold - all are available as prints. If you like anything that you see and would like to have it as the original or as a print - contact me and we'll go from there. Here's my email: lauronnlewis1@gmail.com
In the meantime, browse the gallery - I hope you enjoy it and look forward to hearing from you in any context.
